Rummage Sale

It’s over! It was fun! It was profitable!

As for the financial portion, the sale generated $1,600.00.

As for the fun portion, there were four days of hard work to set up tables; sort clean, fold; put up signs, and displays, etc.  We did hear some “groans” about “so much to do”, and complaints about a few sore muscles, but most of us left each day with a smile, and came back the next day for more.  Coffee and goodies were furnished each day.

Then came the sale days. Two days, Friday and Saturday, of straightening, bagging, helping customers, etc. These days were fast paced as we were very busy most of the time.  After the final sale day, all stayed to help clean up, box and bag the left over merchandise and generally put the church back in order.  Lunch was served to all workers both days.

The list of volunteers is long.  They all deserve to be recognized for their hard work and great contribution. The results show their dedication and commitment.

Allison Warlyn for the lunches on the sale days;

Milt Anderson for the curbside signs and large furniture donations

And to the ladies from Divine Redeemer, Isidra, Ada, Jessica, Keyla, and Sara to name a few, who helped straighten the clothes, donated items leftover from their sale last year, and with the clean-up.

Also, many thanks to all who contributed items for our sale. This could not have happened without your generosity.

Many of you wondered about all the “stuff” that was left over.  Not much was wasted.  Most was given to the Epilepsy Foundation. They sent a truck the next Monday morning.  The coats are set aside to be given to the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for their fall coat drive.  The men’s clothing was taken to PADS, for their use.  Towels, blankets, etc. were taken to Animal Welfare (on Southwest Highway) for their use. A truck load of items was delivered to Oak Lawn Presbyterian Church for use at their rummage sale the following Saturday. A refrigerator was given to ComEd (for a $50.00 rebate). So all was put to good use. All were very appreciative for these donations.

Our rummage sale, in many ways, was a great success.  Again, Thanks to all.

Remember: Volunteers do it Best!!
